PotPie is a full-service French-inspired restaurant nestled in Kansas City’s Westport neighborhood, where the vibe strikes a balance between cozy bistro and relaxed local hangout. This spot suits evenings when you’re after a meal that feels thoughtfully made but unpretentious — a place where you can settle in and savor comfort food with a refined twist.

The restaurant’s strength lies in its hearty, home-style dishes anchored by a family of pot pies, like the classic chicken and the rich beef and mushroom options, alongside other seasonal entrees such as pan-roasted chicken and bone-in pork chops. Portions tend to be generous, making it a solid choice if you want a satisfying dinner that won’t leave you reaching for a snack later.

PotPie’s atmosphere is quietly inviting, with décor that leans into a warm, lived-in bistro feel rather than anything flashy. This subtle comfort makes it a favorite for date nights and casual dinners alike, especially for locals seeking a spot with dependable service and a menu that rotates through fresh, seasonal ingredients while holding onto staples like the pot pies and roast chicken.

Visitors tend to appreciate the attentive and familiar service, with owners often present and engaging, giving the place a neighborhood restaurant dynamic. It’s a setting that encourages lingering over dishes like goat cheese salad or steamed mussels before finishing with desserts such as chocolate chip bread pudding or berry cobbler.

Evenings at PotPie feel suited for those who enjoy relaxed dining without the rush — think cozy tables, unhurried conversations, and a wine list that pairs nicely with the rustic fare. The mix of familiar comfort foods and seasonal updates keeps the experience fresh, while the friendly staff helps the place feel like a local fixture rather than a tourist stop.

Great local and cozy Westport bistro with attentive service and food. Have been here several times but last night it made me decide to add it our favorite rotation. Had the grilled peach and Burrata salad which was delicious and plentiful. Also tried the tempura shrimp and they were succulent. The roasted pan chicken, mashed potatoes and au jus was heavenly. Can’t leave without trying the chicken and vegetable pot pie. It was all so wonderful!

One of my husband & I's favorite date night spots. The service and food are always fantastic. The owners are so nice and often there to say hello. This is a perfect spot year round with a roating season menu but always keeping staples of potpie and roast chicken on the menu. You will not regret coming here and will leave full and cozy.

Very homey, comfortable place. It's nice when traveling often to find something that is not a sandwich. I had the beef pot pie, salad and a very nice glass of wine. everything was excellent! The salad was fresh with a hard to describe but flavorful dessing. The beef pie was rich and hearty, the crust was special (in a GREAT WAY), I can say this is the first time where I felt like the crust actually ADDED to the dish that was already great. The bread was also very nice.

Pot Pie is so much fun and the staff is wonderful! They made our visit there very memorable and all of the food was wonderful. We had the tempura shrimp as an appetizer and a savory chicken dish that was amazing.

My wife and I had the opportunity to eat here on our Dec trip to KC. We like to explore different places to eat that are off the beaten path. We had a wonderful dinner at Pot Pie. The servings were large and fresh. Service was great. We thought the prices were reasonable. In addition, the atmosphere and decor was comfortable and inviting. We would definitely visit there again.

The crust on this pot pie was literally so flaky and delicious. As a baker myself I am truly curious how they were able to get their crust to be so amazing. I got the beef and mushroom and my friend got the chicken and vegetable. Both were very good. They also have lots of other things on their menu including fish and steak. It’s a small intimate space so I’d recommend making a reservation especially on the weekend.

This place was wonderful! It is so cozy inside and the staff was super friendly. Two things stood out to me as absolutely exceptional. The cocktails were very well done, we tried the tulip and the Tweed jacket and they were both delicious. And the chocolate chip bread pudding might be the best bread pudding I have ever had. I would go back a million times just for that. I did find the chicken pot pie to be a little bit bland, but that might be because I'm used to more flavors from other cuisines. I thought the puff pastry was delicious, if a little bit soft. The short rib was cooked beautifully in a bourguignon sauce and the potatoes au gratin were perfect. I would recommend anybody in the area try this place.
